BioInfoBank is an assets management network. It consists of experts in science, engineering, management, finance and law. The general objective of BioInfoBank is to promote and boost the development of high-tech initiatives in and around Poland. The main activity of BioInfoBank is collecting information about innovative technologies in Poland and the preparation, launching and execution of high-tech projects. The main role of BioInfoBank is to match complementary partners and to exchange ideas and resources between them. BioInfoBank is an open and expanding network. All parties with innovative concepts, unique technological solutions or financial resources are cordially invited to join this initiative.
BioInfoBank Seed Capital is a new investment fund created by BioInfoBank to facilitate the commercial exploitation of innovative ideas leading to dynamic high-growth companies generating excellent profits. The Fund invests exclusively in early-stage companies assisting them in deploying new technologies in an ever-changing marketplace. BioInfoBank, via the network of experts, created a large database of commercial ideas generated in Poland in biotechnology and related fields. The managers of the fund have sound and complimentary knowledge on technical, managerial, and financial matters as well as deep understanding of Polish market and law system that allow them to select the most promising business projects. We are planning to increase the volume of the fund to ~20M by 2007.
The Center forInnovative Technologies (CITech) is a joint initiative of several academic and commercial organizations coordinated by BioInfoBank. The center focuses on disciplines such as biotechnology, molecular biology, material science and IT. The objective of the Center is to provide scientific, legal and administrative support for partner institutions and to stimulate the development of large, joint, high-tech projects with a clear focus on commercial exploitation of results. The scientific support provided by the coordinating institution covers areas related to Bioinformatics - perfect platform for combining technological components. The criteria for project selection include large technological and financial requirements, which make the project unfeasible for a single partner. CITech obtained the "center of excellence" status in 2004 and is partially funded by European Structural Funds.
BioInfoBank Institute is a non-for-profit research and development organization. The general objective of the Institute is to generate, incubate and inspire innovative ideas and to facilitate and promote unrestricted and productive research conducted by highly motivated excellent young scientists in Poland. The Institute generates innovative technological solutions. Some of them are converted into commercial project ideas that can be disseminated across the BioInfoBank network. The institute not only educates experts in biotechnology and information technology but also promotes commercial exploitation of scientific discoveries by their own authors through a spin-off program. The main scientific focus of the institute is Bioinformatics, an inter-disciplinary field of science driven by achievements in biotechnology and information technology. The institute is mainly funded by Framework Grants from the European Commission and by grants from the Polish Ministry of Science and Information.
